We work in partnership with you to build a strong, positive safety culture through policy development, risk assessments, audits and engaging staff training helping you create safer, more resilient workplaces.

The Strategic Value of Safe Workplaces

Poor health and safety practices cost far more than money. Workplace incidents can consume valuable time, disrupt operations, and damage your organisation’s reputation. Successful organisations understand this and place health and safety at the core of their business strategy. By doing so, they reduce accidents and create a working environment where employees feel valued, leading to higher morale, greater job satisfaction, and improved productivity. The result is a strong health and safety culture that supports sustainable, long-term growth.

Our health and safety HR service provides flexible, practical support tailored to the unique needs and challenges of your organisation.

What our clients say

Frequently asked questions

Do I legally need a written Health & Safety policy?
If you employ five or more people, you are legally required to have a written Health & Safety policy. For businesses with fewer than five employees, while a written policy isn’t a legal mandate, it is highly recommended as best practice to demonstrate your commitment to safety.
There is no fixed legal timeline, but the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) states they must be reviewed “regularly.” We recommend an annual review as standard, or immediately following a significant change in your workplace, such as new equipment, a change in office layout, or following a “near-miss” incident.

A hazard is anything with the potential to cause harm (such as a trailing cable or a chemical substance). A risk is the likelihood—great or small—that someone will actually be harmed by that hazard, combined with the severity of the potential injury.

Yes. Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, nearly all non-domestic premises must have a “suitable and sufficient” fire risk assessment. As of October 2023, the law now requires all businesses to record their full fire risk assessment in writing, regardless of the number of employees.
Beyond the risk to your employees, poor health and safety can lead to unlimited fines, criminal prosecution, and imprisonment. It can also invalidate your business insurance and cause significant long-term damage to your professional reputation.
While business owners can perform their own checks, the law requires a “competent person” to assist with health and safety. Partnering with a consultancy like HR Central ensures your audits are objective, thorough, and compliant with the latest 2026 legislation.
Under RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations), you must report specified workplace incidents, including fractures, serious burns, or any injury that results in an employee being away from work or unable to perform their normal duties for more than seven consecutive days.
